The Akta Lakota Museum at St. Joseph's Indian School ("Akta Lakota" means "to honor the people") is an educational outreach of the school that strives to preserve and promote Sioux culture. The Akta Lakota Museum is a tribute to the Sioux nation that offers visitors a rare and fascinating glimpse into the Lakota culture. South Dakota Hall of Fame / Walk of Fame
ne of the first things you see upon entering the South Dakota Hall of Fame is the Walk of Fame - a series of walls dedicated to showcasing the profiles of members of the South Dakota Hall of Fame. The is the Wall of Fame features panels of the Wall, lists a year of induction and the honorees from that year - in alphabetical order by the Inductee's last name with the category of induction beside the name. A "hands on" approach to history is featured; learn history by touching and feeling. Tom Browkaw, Mary Hart and Sitting Bull are just a few of the Dakotans honored here.
