The Black Hills Mining Museum is located in Lead, near Deadwood in the Badlands region of South Dakota. The museum preserves the area's rich gold mining history. The Deadwood Historic District is a preserved gold mining town, in the Black Hills region of western South Dakota. In 1875, miners rushed to the area to mine gold.
