Wind Cave National Park is home to the fifth longest cave in the world, with over 136 miles of passages. Wind Cave was first discovered in 1881 and contains passages over 300 million years old. By 1903, it became the first cave in the world to be designated a national park. The cave was created in the Madison Limestone formation and the Minnelusa Formation, which helped form the incredible, rare "boxwork" visible today.
